SILVER CREEK - Family and friends are holding a benefit for Silver Creek native Anne Davis, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
Davis's mom, Bonnie Davis, said her daughter was diagnosed on April Fools Day this year.
"Anne is just a very friendly, outgoing and compassionate person who likes to help others," Bonnie said.
A benefit will be held for Anne Davis to help defray the cost of cancer treatments.
Anne has been an Air Force reservist out of Niagara Falls for 16 years. She served three tours of duty in Iraq in 2003, 2006 and 2010 and has earned the rank of Master Sergeant.
Anne is a Silver Creek High School graduate and a graduate of SUNY Fredonia. She works at Lake Shore Hospital as a dietary supervisor and when she is healthy also works at Rite-Aid in Silver Creek and Angola.
Bonnie said Anne began undergoing chemotherapy in mid-April and finished treatments on Sept. 4. Anne is facing a single mastectomy at the end of this month and then more rounds of medication and six weeks of radiation.
Anne's family and friends are holding a fundraiser and pasta dinner benefit to help defray medical and transportation costs as well as the expenses of daily living while she recovers.
All are invited to attend the pasta dinner and fundraiser to be held Sunday, Sept. 8 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Silver Creek Fireman's Club on Jackson Street. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
In addition to a pasta dinner there will also be a bake sale, 50/50 raffle, basket raffles and a raffle for Kindle Fire HD. There will also be face painting, a clown and music by DJ Bear for the kids.
Tickets can be purchased at the door or ahead of time at St. Columban's on the Lake or by calling Bonnie at 680-0482.
