The Brad Anderson Recognition Committee will meet on Monday, Sept. 16, at 6:30 p.m. at the Portland Town Hall, 87 W. Main St., Brocton. The public and new members are welcome to attend.
Landlord Association to meet Tuesday
The Landlord Association of Northern Chautauqua County will be meeting on Tuesday, Sept 17. at 7 p.m. in the Bell Towers Building, 10 Ruggles St., Dunkirk. Speaker for the evening is Bill Vogt, member of REIA, Jamestown Real Estate Investment Group and Director of COI Housing. He will describe how the landlord association in Jamestown works and there will be discussion related to the possibilities for exchange of information and resources with North County landlords.
The meeting is open to all landlords and memberships are welcome. The meeting is free but an annual membership is $10 which helps cover the cost of materials and guidelines for landlords. They encourage membership so that the association can speak with a larger voice and address issues problematic to rental housing in the northern part of Chautauqua County.
Barnes Road closed Wednesday
Barnes Road in the town of Portland will be closed Wednesday for culvert work. The rain day for the work is Thursday.
Friends of Anderson-Lee Library prepare for annual used book sale
The Friends of Anderson-Lee Library are now accepting donations for their used book sale scheduled for Sept. 19-21. All donations may be dropped off at the library in Silver Creek and will be accepted until Sept. 17. The three-day sale will run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. All proceeds from this sale are used to enhance library collections.
At this time, the group is not accepting encyclopedias, Reader's Digest Condensed Books, magazines, dictionaries, or any kind of text book. These items do not sell and take up valuable space.
Donations may be dropped off during operating hours. The library is open Monday and Tuesday noon to 8 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Friends of Anderson-Lee Library is comprised of community members who support the local library. Membership is ongoing and more information about becoming a Friend of Anderson-Lee can be obtained by calling 934-3468 or by stopping at the library on Main Street in Silver Creek.
