SILVER CREEK - An independent audit analysis was delivered to the Silver Creek Board of Education on Wednesday evening resulting in positive news.
A complete review was given by James Alexander IV of Buffamante Whipple Buttafaro, PC., who covered budget categories such as salaries, health care costs, food service costs and total revenues.
Alexander said there weren't any major differences from prior audits.
He said, "The key part is that your fund equity has grown. That's very positive."
Superintendent Daniel Ljiljanich said, "I'm very proud of the work of the audit committee. It was all of their hard work which resulted in such a clean audit."
Next, three heavily discussed action items were approved.
An authorization to execute a contract with Brocton Central School for shared services was approved for the transportation of special education students for the 2013-2014 school year at an estimated cost of $4,000.
Then, a motion was passed for Silver Creek to share services with Forestville and Fredonia schools for fall sports.
Ljiljanich said, "The board and myself have worked very hard in putting together these agreements. It gives students opportunities and I think we're all very pleased with these agreements we have in place."
Forestville and Silver Creek will combine boys varsity soccer and modified, junior varsity, and varsity football teams. Boys and girls modified soccer, and modified and varsity cross country will also combine. Fredonia Central School and Silver Creek will combine girls varsity swim teams.
Lastly, the board authorized a contract with the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department for a part-time school resource officer for the year.
"The individual will be here for school security," Ljiljanich said, adding that the district hopes to hire a full time officer in the future.
