For nearly a decade, the Dunkirk Fredonia Clergy Association has sponsored a walk to help end hunger. The funds collected from the annual Hunger Walk are shared between a local non-profit, 75 percent going to Chautauqua County Rural Ministry food programs, and 25 percent to another global non-profit organization.
The Walk is usually held the first Sunday of October each year; this year however, the Walk is being postponed and will be rescheduled for Spring 2014.
Even though the Hunger Walk has been rescheduled, dedicated Upward Bound students and Jr ROTC are continuing their efforts in assisting with hunger relief locally by holding a canned soup drive to benefit the Rural Ministry's emergency food pantry.
The Clergy Association is grateful to all who have inquired about the Walk and have contributed to the effort of increasing food security in our community.
