Herman A. Zebraski of Dunkirk, NY, died Thursday October 3, 2013 at Brooks Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness.
He was 77 years of age, born in Buffalo, NY on November 28, 1935, the son of the late Joseph and Monica (Pauszek) Zebraski. A Dunkirk resident for most of his life, Mr. Zebraski was 1953 graduate of St. Mary's Academy and recently celebrated his 60th reunion. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959. He attended Erie County Tech and was a retired Supervisor of Maintenance Services at the SUNY College at Fredonia. He was a member of Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish - St. Hyacinth, the Daniel F. Anson Hose Company No. 3, The First Ward Falcon Club, the Dunkirk Veterans of WWII, VFW John T. Murray Post 1017, the Dunkirk Exempt Firemen's Association, and the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 89.
Surviving are his wife, Janet A. (Polinski) Zebraski whom he married on September 25, 1965; his son, Paul (Lori) Zebraski of Fredonia; his daughter, Molly (Christopher) Baranick of Northville, Michigan; his grandchildren, Haley and Kaelyn Zebraski, Ally and Tyler Baranick; his sisters, Clara Kochmanski of Williamsville, NY; Freda Fuller of North Olmsted, OH; Dorothy Buffa and Sylvia Krystofik, both of Dunkirk; and his brother-in-law, Stanley Sliwa of Dunkirk. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Celine Sliwa and an infant brother, Joseph Zebraski.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held Monday, October 7, 2013 at 10 a.m. in Blessed Mary Angela RC Parish - St. Hyacinth's Church. Private interment will be in St. Hyacinth's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Newman Funeral Home, Inc. from 2-4 p.m. Sunday. The family suggests memorials be made to either the Dunkirk Free Library or St. Hyacinth's Cemetery Fund.
