The OBSERVER

A 78-year-old pedestrian was sent to the hospital after he was hit by a car on Wednesday in the city. According to the Dunkirk Police Department, Judith Robson, 80, of Lake Road was traveling west on Lake Shore Drive and had a green light in her favor around 5:30 p.m. She attempted to make a left-hand turn with difficulties due to the sun setting, causing a bright glare. She made the turn slowly and struck Ramon Ruiz of North Main Street while he was on his mobilized chair and crossing the street from west to east on the south side of Central Avenue. The impact knocked Ruiz off his chair, causing him to strike the pavement with his head. He was transported to Brooks Memorial Hospital via Alstar Ambulance for a complaint of pain in the back of his head. Robson was also treated at the scene and was released.
