Slip sliding away

Donte Chambers, 20, of Brooks Avenue in the city of Dunkirk, was handed several charges by Dunkirk Police after he crashed into a utility pole at the corner of Brigham Road and West Second Street on Wednesday. According to an accident report, around 10:30 p.m., Chambers was traveling westbound on West Second Street when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection with Brigham Road. Chambers told police he slid through the stop sign. He continued through the intersection and struck a National Grid utility pole on the west side of Brigham Road. Both the vehicle and the utility pole sustained heavy damage. Chambers was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, speed not reasonable or prudent, no insurance and failure to stop at a stop sign.
