FORESTVILLE - Members of the Forestville Parent Connection Playground Committee are working hard to raise money for new equipment for the Forestville Elementary School playground.
The committee recently held a fundraiser at the J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post 953 and raised $1,487.
Coordinator Lisa Szumigala said, "Many thanks are expressed to everyone who supported this event. We couldn't have raised the money without them. It's so nice to see the community and other communities supporting us."

Events included a children's carnival, a community vs. school faculty softball game, a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle and a bake sale.
Community members (Sara Bailey, Collen Goodway and Mikayla Goodway) made bracelets and donated the sales made at the fundraiser to the playground funds.
Thirteen community members played in the softball game as did 11 faculty members.
Board member Amy Drozdiel was the official bookkeeper. Keith VanVlack was the referee for the game.
The community members defeated the faculty members in the softball game.
High school students, members of the Forestville High School Key Club and members of Parent Connection donated their time in assisting at the children's carnival.
The American Legion also waived their rental fee and the Hanover Little League allowed the usage of their concession stand in support of this event.
Several companies contributed monetary donations and items to the silent auction.
The playground committee hopes to raise a total of $19,000 and plans to host more events within the Forestville community in the coming months.
