Jim and Dru Pasierb of 66 North Jerboa St. in Dunkirk, have been named Rising Star winners for September.
Rising Star program sponsors Andy and Fred Dziduch of ADD Lumber True Value presented the Pasierbs with a $100 gift certificate for their home improvement efforts.
The Pasierbs have made many improvements to their home over the past several years, but the most noticeable one is the recent addition of an 11- by 17-foot portico or covered porch to the front entranceway of their home.

Completed by local contractor Sal-Tee & Sons Construction, the structure includes an outdoor ceiling fan, exterior blinds, a dock-style walkway ramp and surrounding landscaping.
The Rising Star program was created to promote and recognize city of Dunkirk property owners who make significant exterior improvements to their existing residential homes, which in turn helps to elevate the image of city neighborhoods.
Each month through October, a $100 gift certificate will be presented to the winning property owner. Program guidelines and nomination forms are available from the City Clerk's office and the following Rising Star sponsors: Add Lumber, Bargain Outlet, Service Hardware and the Home Depot.
All exterior home improvements will be considered and residents are encouraged to apply.
