The South Dayton United Methodist Church is having a giant indoor rummage sale on Nov. 1 and 2. On Friday, Nov. 1, it will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Saturday, Nov. 2, it will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A bag sale will begin Saturday at noon. There will also be a bake sale both days.
Ripley Free Library to hold auction Nov. 2
The Ripley Free Library will hold its annual Silent Auction on Saturday, Nov. 2. Bidding begins at noon and the final tables will close at 6 p.m. Items up for auction include a painter's basket, toys and games, a lamp, pictures, themed baskets, items for men and women, gift certificates and a portable DVD player. There will also be a Chinese auction and a bake sale.
Friends of Barker Library to meet Oct. 29
The annual meeting of the Friends of the Darwin R. Barker Library and its board of directors will be held Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. in the Steele Room of the library. Following a brief business meeting, there will be information provided about the library's book club and this year's Big Read selection. The museum will be open that afternoon for browsing with light refreshments to follow.
Begun in 1977, the Friends of the Barker Library is a voluntary group that serves to provide needed funding for equipment and services not covered by other financial sources. The group welcomes anyone interested in joining; annual individual memberships are just $15. Forms for signing up are available at the main desk in the library. Love INC to hold annual banquet Nov. 2
The sixth annual "Love in the Name of Christ Banquet and Live Auction" will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the American Legion Post #409, 100 Legion Dr., Gowanda. This banquet and auction benefits the ongoing good works of Love INC of the greater Gowanda area. Doors open at 5 p.m. for viewing of the auction items and dinner is at 6 p.m. The guest speaker will be Jen Alessi. The auction will begin after dinner. The cost is $20 per person and tickets are presale only. Call the Love INC office at 532-3541 to donate or sponsor an item for auction. Tickets are available at the office during business hours on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon. Stop in or call to purchase tickets. All tickets must be paid for and picked up by Oct. 25.
Turkey Dinner Nov. 5
The United Church in Ellicottville will hold an Election Day Turkey Dinner Tuesday, Nov. 5, 4:30 to 7 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Take-outs are available. Diners are asked to use the Elk Street entrance to get to the church hall.
