Eileen E. Furness, age 79, of Dunkirk, N.Y. died Sunday October 27, 2013 at the Chautauqua County Home after a brief illness.
She was born January 28, 1934 in Carrollton, N.Y. to the late Rex and Frances (Milks) Fox. On March 10, 1962 she married her husband Edward W. Furness, who preceded her in death.
Eileen was employed by Remtronics, Inc. for 48 years, and had been working up until her recent illness.
She is survived by her brother Cliff Carey, of Erie, PA; nephews Tom Furness, of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Layne Fox of Fredonia; nieces Cheryl (Roger) Boland of Bell, FL, Kathleen Fox of Jamestown NY, Lynette Fox of Dunkirk, NY, Sallie (Mark) Piazza of Fredonia, Kathy Furness (Jeremy) Samucha of Fredonia and Lori (Randy) Fabritius of Sinclairville. Also survived by great nieces and great nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, Eileen is preceded in death by her brother, Leroy F. "Lee" Fox, of Brocton, NY; a sister, Norma M. Larson of Jamestown, NY; a niece, Jaca Louise Carey of Ocala, FL; and a nephew Leroy "Skip" Fox of Brocton. Friends may call Thursday 3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Larson-Timko Funeral Home, 20 Central Avenue, Fredonia, where a memorial service will follow at 5:00 p.m. Mrs. Furness was a very generous lady willing to give without ever hoping of receiving compensation for her good deeds and always willing to help a family member or friend. She was a regular contributor to charitable organizations, including but not limited to the ASPCA, Salvation Army, Wildlife Federation and the Humane Society. She was an excellent gardener and talented cook. Her real love was caring for her beloved pets over the years and most recently her Shih Tzu's Molly and Marci. Flowers gratefully declined.
