Brett Christy is a lifelong resident of the Town of Pomfret. Having grown up in the area and now raising his own family here has given him the vision and commitment to run for the upcoming vacant council position. Christy has been recently endorsed by the Democratic and Independent party lines. He has a diverse background that prepares him to be ready to work closely together with the rest of the town board to make the best decisions possible for the employees, customers and taxpayers of the Town of Pomfret, today, tomorrow and into the future.
Brett graduated from Alfred State College with an AAS degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. He quickly put his schooling to work in the profession of his dreams, a third generation electrical worker. He started his career with the Village of Mayville DPW where he gained substantial knowledge of the workings of many departments relative to public works. During his time in Mayville he also was a member of the Mayville volunteer Fire Department where he was later chosen as Assistant Fire Chief.
Over the last 12 years Brett has been working for National Grid where he currently holds the position of Senior Supervisor of Maintenance and Construction at the Fredonia crew headquarters. His responsibilities include the safety and organization of the Transmission & Distribution Overhead line crews and the operation of the local electric power grid.
He is joined in his ventures with his wife of 15 years Jen, and their two children, Hannah and Alex. As a family man he enjoys spending his time coaching Little League baseball and Midget League football. Brett also is a member of the Dunkirk Yacht Club and St. Anthony's church.
Christy strives to use his wide variety of public backgrounds to best serve the taxpayers of the Town of Pomfret. He looks forward to helping best manage our local assets to help reduce taxes, create jobs and grow our area by better diversifying the tax burden. He looks to start by working closely with all local governments to best utilize shared services to reduce costs and to most effectively and efficiently provide services to the town and neighboring communities.
