John S. Kucharski Jr., 69, of Dunkirk died unexpectedly Saturday (Nov. 16, 2013) in Dunkirk.
He was born Aug. 2, 1944 in Dunkirk, the son of the late John S. Kucharski Sr. and Stella R. (Piwowarski) Bialaszewski.
A lifelong Dunkirk resident, Mr. Kucharski served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1965.
He had been employed as an air conditioner technician for General Electric in Erie, Pa., retiring after 32 years of service. He also was a part-time bus driver for Chautauqua County CARTS.
A parishioner of Holy Trinity Church, he was a member of the Dunkirk Rod & Gun Club.
Mr. Kucharski was an avid outdoorsman. Well known as a "Mr. Fix-It" handyman, he was able to fix just about anything.
His family was most important to him and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra (Russo) Kucharski, whom he married Sept. 19, 1964; two daughters, Kimberly (Daniel) Salerno of Dun-kirk and Kristin (Thomas) Boekamp of Yardley, Pa.; four grandchildren, Gina and Alyssa Salerno, and Henrick and Johannes Boekamp; two sisters, Diana (Michael) Dowling and Beverly (Richard) Pinkowski, both of Dunkirk; one brother, Jack Bialaszewski of Dunkirk; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, John S. Bialaszewski.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated Friday morn-ing at 10 o'clock in Holy Trinity Church. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
