The J. Carter Knapp American Legion Auxiliary 953 of Forestville visited Earl Town at the County Home on Nov. 10.
Members Marlene Bradigan, Judy Hahn, Carol McEntarfer and Gloria Yeager brought a plaque that features a picture of Town's late wife, Violet, and an engraving honoring her for her 65 years of service to the auxiliary.
This plaque will be displayed proudly at the Forestville Legion.

Town's two sons, Carter and Donald, were present for the occasion.
Carter lives in Dunkirk and Donald resides in California. Town's daughter Debbie could not attend due to a prior commitment.
Violet Town joined the auxiliary in 1946 and served as the Forestville chapter's president from 1957-58. She was the county auxiliary president in 1961. To date, she is the only auxiliary member from Forestville to have served as county president.
