SHERIDAN - An early morning blaze Saturday destroyed a Center Road home. Crews were called to 10493 Center Road around 9:45 a.m. for the blaze.
Sheridan Fire Chief Aaron Brinkman said the home was declared a total loss where crews were on scene for about four hours.
"The fire started in the back of the house and when the first crews got there, there was nothing we could do," he said.

Firefighters were called to 10493 Center Road in Sheridan Saturday morning. Wind made it difficult to battle the blaze and the house was pronounced a total loss.
No one was home at the time of the fire and the owner who is out of town has been contacted. There were no reported injuries. Brinkman said temperatures were not a problem, but the wind did cause some troubles battling the flames.
"The wind played with us a bit. It made things difficult," Brinkman said.
The investigation is continuing and a cause has not been announced. In addition to Sheridan, fire departments from Cassadaga, East and West towns of Dunkirk, Sunset Bay and Silver Creek also responded to the scene.
