Mass to remember deceased children
The Annual Remembrance Mass for all deceased children will be held this year on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at the St. Rose of Lima Church at 7 p.m.
This annual mass is offered for anyone who has lost a child, born or unborn. Call Mary Franklin 965-4803 or Pat Johnson at 934-2961 and give the name of your child so his/her name will be prayed aloud within the Prayer of the Faithful.
It is also the custom for some parents to order a poinsettia plant in remembrance of their child. This beautiful flowering plant is presented by the parents at the beginning of the service as their child's name is called. The plant is then placed on the altar for the Mass and will remain within the Sanctuary of St. Rose of Lima throughout the Christmas season. As the Christmas season comes to an end, the family is invited to take their plant home as a memento of the offering of flowers to the Christ child. This is voluntary and is not an obligation to attend.
Refreshments and a social time will be offered in the church hall after the mass.
To have your child's name remembered during the Mass, or to purchase a poinsettia plant, please call Franklin or Johnson as soon as possible. Persons of all faiths are welcome.
