FORT MYERS, Fla. Ralph E. Brooks Jr., 87, of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Gowanda, NY passed away December 16, 2013 in Fort Myers.
He was born April 30, 1926 in Corry, PA.
Mr. Brooks was a WWII veteran and Korean War veteran having served in the US Navy. He was a patrolman for the Gowanda Police Dept. for 11 years and for the Erie County Sheriff's Dept. for 25 years.
Mr. Brooks is survived by his wife, the former Janet Lane.
He was a 64-year member of the Phoenix Lodge in Gowanda and a member the Ismailia Temple, Gowanda Shrine Club and the Araba Shrine in Fort Myers. He was also a life member of the Gowanda VFW and the Gowanda American Legion.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Bradley Brooks of California; two stepdaughters, Lynn Davenport of Florida and Kathy (Don) Schwertfager of Lawtons, NY; two grandchildren; and a great grandchild.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Camilla "Connie" in 2003.
Friends may call at the Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 105 East Main Street Gowanda, NY on Sunday December 22, 2013 from 2-4 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home with the Rev. Donna Lewis officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in North Collins Cemetery.
