Total loss in Sunday blaze

December 23, 2013
The OBSERVER

A fully-involved structure fire occurred late Sunday afternoon at 8291 Route 380 in the town of Portland. According to Brocton Fire Chief Bryan Woleben, the call came into the fire department shortly before 5 p.m. Crews were on the scene for about three hours putting out the fire. Woleben wished to thank all the mutual aid companies who responded, including Portland, Fredonia, Stockton, Cassadaga, Dewittville and Westfield (which stood by for ambulatory services). No injuries were reported. Woleben said the house, which was unoccupied, was a total loss. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
