Five Amish men from St. Lawrence County, N.Y., who opted for a jail sentence after refusing to hang reflectors from their horse-drawn buggies, have been freed pending appeal. The defendants were charged with traffic violations for failing to adorn their buggies with reflectors and a bright orange triangular emblem sugnifying a slow moving vehicle. The Amish men claim that affixing the required reflectors to their buggies would violate an Amish ban against displaying flashy colors.
