Lucille M. Wells (Marshall), age 91, of Fredonia, N.Y., formerly of Canandaigua, N.Y., and Silver Creek, N.Y., died Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Brooks Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Lucille was born August 31, 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late William and Zelma (Roudebush) Marshall, and graduated from Cleveland Heights High School in 1940. In 1943, she married her high school sweetheart Willis Wells. Following World War II, Lucille and Willis moved to Silver Creek, N.Y., where they raised their family. She worked at Niagara Therapy and as an Admissions Clerk at Lake Shore Hospital in Irving.
Lucille was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Silver Creek, the Silver Creek Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star in Silver Creek. After her husband Willis' retirement from the U.S. Navy in 1970, they moved to Canandaigua, N.Y., where they lived by the lake. She worked at Clifton Springs Hospital in Admissions until her retirement in 1982. Upon her retirement, Lucille volunteered at the Canandaigua Veterans Hospital. Traveling and snow birding were her favorite pastimes. She also enjoyed puzzles and card playing. Lucille recently moved to Fredonia to be near her daughters.
She is survived by her three children: Raymond (Sue) Wells of West Gardiner, Maine, Carol (Joseph) Calarco of Fredonia, N.Y., and Kathryn (Patrick) Kelleher of Silver Creek, N.Y.; six grandchildren: Daniel (Brenda) Wells, Brian (Tammy) Wells, Keith (Aurora) Wells, all of Maine, Gina Flocare (Mark) Mulville of Orchard Park, N.Y., Valerie Flocare of Helena, Mont., and Kimberly Kelleher (Scott) Whipple of Silver Creek, N.Y. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, four nieces and two nephews.
Besides her parents, Lucille was predeceased by her husband, Willis Wells, and her sister, Ida Patricia Marshall Johnson.
A memorial service will be held at a future date. Lucille will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
