SINCLAIRVILLE - A family lost their home Thursday afternoon after a fire started under their trailer, likely caused by electrical heating tape.
Firefighters from Sinclairville, Cassadaga, Stockton, Lily Dale, Gerry, Ellery Center and Ellington, along with Emergency Services, were called to a residence at 2748 Edson Road near the intersection with Reed Road around 1:20 p.m. Thursday.
Sinclairville Fire Chief Dave Lukacz said although the cause is still under investigation, it is suspected electrical tape encasing a wire on a device the family used to keep their pipes warm caused the fire.

Fire tore through a doublewide trailer at 2748 Edson Road in Sinclairville around 2 p.m. Thursday, displacing a family of five and leaving the home beyond repair. The cause is believed to be electrical in nature. Pictured are Sinclairville firefighters attempting to battle the blaze, which was exacerbated by the weather.
"The weather conditions didn't help us," he said. "Our equipment wasn't working at first."
Lukacz said everyone got out of the doublewide trailer and there were no injuries.
The occupants of the home - three children and two adults - are now staying with family.
"The home is damaged beyond repair," Lukacz said.
