City man charged with rape
According to police, Jermaine Batten was charged with first-degree rape and unlawfully dealing with a child. He was taken into custody after an arrest warrant and search warrant was issued by city Court Judge Walter F. Drag. The warrants were issued as a result of an investigation by members of the Dunkirk Police Department of an alleged rape that occurred.
Batten was arraigned and held without bail in Chautauqua County Jail pending a felony preliminary hearing.

SILVER CREEK - Danielle P. Pawlak, 19, of Dunkirk was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and having less than two stop lamps on Sunday. At 9:45 p.m. deputies stopped Pawlak on Central Avenue for allegedly having less than two stop lamps. Upon further investigation, it was found that Pawlak's driving privileges were allegedly suspended in New York state. She will appear in Silver Creek Village Court at a later date.
BUFFALO - Cody J. Cook, 21, of Irving was taken into custody by officers Monday. He was wanted by sheriff's for several misdemeanors on an arrest warrant. The warrant can be canceled and Cook has been taken off the Chautauqua County's Most Wanted list. He was held at the Erie County Holding Center.
According to authorities, a strong odor of alcohol emanated from the vehicle and a breath test showed a blood alcohol level of .12 percent.
Mata was issued appearance tickets for driving while intoxicated, speeding and possessing an open container of alcohol in a vehicle and released.
Tickets are returnable Thursday to the Town of Poland Court.
Edwards was arrested for driving while intoxicated after failing field sobriety tests and transported to the State Police barracks in Jamestown.
A breath test was administered and a blood alcohol level of .22 percent was reported.
Edwards was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and released. He is to appear in Ellery Court.
Ellis was transported to the State Police barracks in Jamestown and a breath test resulted in a reported blood alcohol level of .10 percent.
Ellis was issued tickets for driving while intoxicated and are returnable to the Town of Randolph Court on Jan. 23 and released.
He was given a breath test with a result of .16 percent blood alcohol level.
Steenburn was issued tickets for driving while intoxicated returnable to the Town of Ellicott Court on Jan. 29 and released.
