"The Struggle Continues" is the theme for the Annual Martin Luther King Jr. luncheon to be held on Monday. The event, sponsored by the Martin Luther King Jr. Luncheon Committee, will be held at the Moose Lodge, 296 Lake Shore Drive W. in Dunkirk.
The keynote speaker for the luncheon will be Frank Williams, who currently serves as the Dean of Admissions at Daemen College. Williams joined the Daemen administration in Spring 2006 as Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions. In November 2009 he was named Director of Undergraduate Admissions and in May 2010 was named to his current position.
Williams has also served as a residence hall director at the SUNY Brockport, a transfer counselor in the Admissions Office at SUNY Fredonia, and as an EOP counselor at Buffalo State College.
Williams holds a master of education degree in College Student Services and Development from the University at Buffalo in 1999. He also earned a bachelor of arts degree with a major in secondary English education and a minor in sociology from SUNY Fredonia in 1997. Williams also received his license in ministry in April 2013.
Williams serves on Daemen's Diversity Action Committee; Transfer Student Advisory Board; Retention Committee; Co-Chair of the Equity and Diversity Committee; Parking Committee; Scholar's Day Committee; Orientation Committee; and Student Leadership Committee. His professional involvement also extends to the state and national level, with an executive board position from 2007-09 as private school representative of the New York State Transfer and Articulation Association; membership in the New York State Association for College Admissions Counselors; and the National Association for College Admission Counseling.
The committee will also be presenting the Janice D. Slaton, Esq. scholarships.
