GOWANDA Richard N. Anckner, 83, of Route 353 passed away Wednesday (Jan. 15, 2014) at Absolut of Westfield.
He was born Jan. 10, 1931 in Gowanda, NY the son of the late Nicholas and Jesse Anckner.
Mr. Anckner was a Korean War veteran, having served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954.
He was the Head of Security at Roswell Park Cancer Institute for many years. He also drove bus for Carrier Coach in Gowanda, NY and was an active member in the East Leon Wesleyan Church for over 50 years and a member of the Gowanda VFW Post #5007.
Mr. Anckner is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joanne Anckner. Also surviving are 3 daughters Joni (Charles) Pannhorst of Port Charlotte, FL, Cynthia French of Mansfield, NY and Christine Anckner of Boston, Mass; and 6 grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Donald (Jean) Anckner of Gowanda, NY; a brother-in-law, Dick Utley of Gowanda, NY and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorials may be made to the East Leon Wesleyan Church.
