Kristin Yonkers of Perfect Pooch Dog Training is pleased to announce the next round of the seven-week Puppy Class will be tuition free for pups adopted from local non-profit organizations.
The seven-week class makes the most of a puppy's critical learning period. Introduction to basic cues, housebreaking techniques, resolving barking and nipping, teaching owners and pups how to make learning safe and fun and most of all socializing puppies to new people and dogs will be topics that are covered.
Shelter puppies have an additional hurdle to jump; they need to adjust to a normal routine, develop trust for humans, reduce reactivity to specific triggers and learn to settle and quiet down for attention. Living in a kennel during very important learning stages can leave bad habits or fears that could be problematic in the future. With reward-based and force-free training, dog owners are guaranteeing a perfect start to their pup's life.

"Working with rescue dogs for over five years, I see the behaviors that force owners to give their new pets away. The Puppy Class will help these dogs stay in their forever home and not risk going back to a shelter. This program provides socialization and will help to make a shelter puppy a great companion for a family," Yonkers said.
The tuition free Puppy Class is open to all pups under 7 months of age who are adopted in the first quarter of 2014, from local non-profit rescue organizations including the Lakeshore Humane Society and Weimaraner Rescue of the North. The free tuition offer is open to other rescue organizations with proof of adoption.
