SHERIDAN - Town courthouse and office renovations to the former St. John Bosco Church building seem to be moving along swiftly at this point, with only a couple months of construction left.
During a recent meeting, Renovations Committee member and project manager Glenn Reed informed the Sheridan Town Board that the structure framing portion of the project (the first phase of renovations) is officially completed, as of Jan. 17. After the update, the board approved a request for proposals for another phase of work, which is for a heating, ventilation and air conditioning system and exhaust fans.
"We are projecting we'll be able to move (the court in the old town hall to the new courthouse) in April," Councilman Richard Feinen said after the meeting. Feinen has been closely involved with the renovations process, along with Reed.

Proposals for the HVAC system are due Monday at 3 p.m.
The board then awarded a bid to DFT Communications and DFT Security for the electrical, voice, data, fire alarm and security work of the building. The cost of the work will be $18,675.
Bids for that work were opened several hours prior to the meeting. A total of four bids were received. Supervisor Louis Delmonte said DFT was the lowest bidder.
Feinen addressed the remaining work that will need to be completed, aside from the HVAC system and the work for DFT.
"Most of the carpentry work is already finished and there will probably be some finishing up of painting at the end of February, and then the heating and air conditioning would be done," he said.
"After we get that done, we'll finish the drywall, get that hung, and some more carpentry, and then the lighting fixtures will get installed and the electrical work will get finished up. Then it'll be on to painting, and then it'll be a done deal."
Also during the meeting, the board declared an emergency situation for water lines in Water District #1. According to the resolution, numerous leaks and breaks are located in the lines on both Farmingdale and Middle roads.
"This has been ongoing for a couple months," Delmonte said. "We've been chasing leaks and throwing good money at a bad situation. Eventually, we're going to have to do some type of replacement."
The board will meet Monday at 7 p.m. in the town offices for a public hearing on the renewal of its fire protection district contract with areas outside of the regular fire district, including the upper portion of Miller Road and a portion of Creek Road. The proposed contract costs $4,500 and is for a period of one year.
A special meeting to award the HVAC system work for the courthouse will be held immediately following the public hearing. A workshop will then follow the special meeting.
