CHEEKTOWAGA - Peter Kubera and Trystan Meyer, along with the members of the Dunkirk-Forestville-Fredonia 200-yard medley relay team all had Sectional qualifying performances on Saturday, during the Section 6 Class B Boys Swimming Championships, at Maryvale High School.
Kubera finished third in the 1-meter diving event with 373.30 points, 110.15 points behind first-place finisher Ryan Monteleone, of Lewiston-Porter, and 107.15 points behind Lake Shore's Travis Wright, who took second place.
Meyer was seventh in the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:00.50. Starpoint's Brandon Smith was first in 54.41 seconds, Olean's Geoffrey Broadbent was second in 55.09 seconds and Amherst's Brian Posner was third in 55.20 seconds.

The 200 medley relay team, which consisted of Duke Medema, Morghon Thompson, Meyer and Bill Bradley, finished seventh in a time of 1:51.96. East Aurora's quartet of Matt McLaughlin, Jack Zagrobelny, Carl Davidson and Aubrey McLaughlan were first in a time of 1:41.89.
With his performance, Kubera qualified for the Sectional meet to be held next weekend back at Maryvale, where he will be seeded fifth. The 200 medley relay team qualified as well, while Meyer narrowly missed his own chance to compete at Maryvale a second week in a row. The relay team is seeded 24th.
DFF finished 10th out of 16 teams with 99 points while Lake Shore was 11th with 89 points.
Starpoint was first with 375 points and were followed by East Aurora (352), Amherst (238), Olean (198), Lewiston-Porter 170, Iroquois (162), Springville (150), Kenmore East (143) and Maryvale (104).
Cheektowaga (55) was 12th, Williamsville South (53) was 13th, Pioneer (50) 14th, West Seneca East (12) 15th and Albion (5) was 16th.
