James G. Thompson, of Fredonia, NY, age 66, died Monday, February 10, 2014, after a brief struggle with cancer, at his home with his family at his side.
He was born July 4, 1947 to the late Gardner and Elizabeth Thompson. He grew up in the town of Pomfret and graduated from Brocton High School. Jim was a U.S. Air Force Veteran having served in Vietnam. He was a Press Operator at Great Lakes Color Printing for 25 years. He also worked at Geiben Brother's, Mooney Harring-ton, Morse Construction and most recently at Olsen & Sons as a foreman.
Jim had many interests including playing cards, reading, attending air shows, going to casinos, tractor shows and heavy equipment shows. He also enjoyed visiting the Cuba Cheese Factory and maple syrup farms.
He is survived by four sons; Michael, Mark (Heather), Matt (Evelyn), and Jason Thompson (Dawn), also his cherished grandchildren; Jessica, Sarah, Jake and Haile Thompson.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Patricia Thompson, who died April 7, 2011; two sons, Jeffrey and Jimmy Thompson, and two brothers; Rick and Dave Thompson.
Friends may call Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at the Larson-Timko Funeral Home, 20 Central Avenue, Fredonia, where a memorial service will be held Friday morning at 11 a.m., followed by Military Honors at the funeral home.
