SHERMAN - Three people were injured and one was listed in critical condition after a two-vehicle accident on Pelton Road in the town of Sherman Saturday morning.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office, around 2:30 a.m., deputies and the Sherman Fire Department responded to the accident with serious personal injury.
After an investigation, it is alleged Dakota Bird, 19, of Ripley was driving south on Pelton Road while Ronald Miller, 21, of Mayville was driving north when they both collided head-on.
The collision occurred at a hillcrest and caused extensive damage to both vehicles. Both Bird and Miller had to be freed from their vehicles using the hurst tool.
Bird was taken via ambulance to Westfield Memorial Hospital, where he was airlifted via Starflight to Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa., and listed in critical condition. Miller was flown from the scene to Hamot by Stat Medivac.
Miller also had two passengers: Robert Gilbert, 20, of Mayville and Stephany Cloutier, 20, of Ripley. Gilbert was not injured and was taken from the scene by a private vehicle. Cloutier was transported to Hamot via ambulance.
The accident is being reconstructed by the Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruc-tion Team.
Charges are pending at the conclusion of the reconstruction report and toxicology results.
The Mayville and South Ripley fire departments also assisted on the scene.
