Michael Howard Peterson of the Cherry Creek Nursing Home, Aurora, CO, formerly of Lakewood, NY, passed away on December 28, 2013 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
He was born in Newark, NJ, on March 19, 1948 to Carl Howard Peterson and Alice Rosie (Johnson) Peterson, who preceded him in being promoted to glory in heaven.
Michael attended and graduated from the Southwestern Central Schools, playing for the football and baseball teams as quarterback and catcher. He also participated in the school band. He was a member of the Jamestown Temple Corps of the Salvation Army and was a valued cornet player, before leaving for school in Colorado.
He graduated from Jamestown Community College and Western State College of Colorado, Gunnison.
Prior to his illness Michael was employed by Continental Airlines in Denver, CO.
Mike loved all sports, especially tennis, and was an avid cyclist and skier, which drew him to attend college in Colorado.
He is survived by a wife and stepdaughter, Teresa & Maxine Potter of Aurora, CO; a brother, Jeffrey Peterson of Fredonia, NY; a sister, Lisa Eckstrom (Timothy) of Jamestown, NY; an aunt, Betty Soder-strom of Jamestown , NY; a nephew, Robert Eckstrom of Fredericksburg VA; a niece, Karen Eckstrom of Rochester, NY; a niece, Amanda McDonald of Galt, CA; and many cousins.

There was a small memorial service, attended by family and friends, on January 14, 2014 at his brother's bed and breakfast, the Edwards Waterhouse Inn, 71 Central Ave., Fredonia, NY.
