Tennis for Beginners
will be offered starting in April
Fredonia Central School will offer a new class, Tennis for Beginners, through the Community Education program.

The class will run Thursday evenings, April 3, 10, May 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 and June 5 from 6 to 8 p.m., rain or shine, at the Fredonia Central School tennis courts on the Main Street campus. The first few weeks of classes, and in case of inclement weather other nights, class will be held inside it the Elementary School Activity Room. The instructor will utilize USTA instruction system. Partici-pants are required to bring own rackets and tennis balls.
The cost of $60 due the first night of class. Checks must be made payable to Fredonia Central School Community Education. Pre-registration by March 25 is required. Class limited to eight participants.
Ripley Central School will hold registration for preschool for the 2014-2015 school year on Thursday in the Guidance Office. To be eligible for preschool, a child must turn 4 years old on or before Dec. 1, 2014. Parents may register their child between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Registration will be on a first-come, first-enrolled basis. If you cannot make it on the registration day, contact the Guidance Office at 736-2631 Ext. 212.
Bring with you to registration proof of residency, your child's birth certificate, your child's Social Security card and an official immunization record with up to date immunizations.

Kidz Nite Out to show 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2'
Family Martial Arts Center of 355 Central Ave. in Fredonia will host its monthly Kidz Nite Out on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. This activity is open to the community and is free to all children ages 5+. It will include arts and crafts, a movie and refreshments. This month's presentation will be "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2."
All children must be dropped off by a responsible adult and the responsible adult must sign a release waiver prior to the event. Children should be picked up promptly at 8 p.m. at the conclusion of the event.
"Kidz Nite Out" is sponsored by Family Video, Dunkirk Rent-a-Center and Dunkin Donuts.
Ten $1,000 scholarships
to be awarded
The Chautauqua County Fair has announced that 10 scholarships of $1,000 will be awarded to current New York state high school seniors and also students enrolled in college. The New York State Association of Agricultural Fairs and the New York Showpeople's Association sponsor the scholarships.
The qualifying students must be active at the Chautauqua County Fair. All applicants from Chau-tauqua County must submit their application through the Chautauqua County Fair no later than April 8.

STEL?accepting nominations for two service awards
Southern Tier Environ-ments for Living Inc., a residential and rehabilitation agency serving people with psychiatric disabilities, is accepting nominations for its two annual Community Service Awards.
According to STEL executive director Thomas J. Whitney, nomination forms have been distributed throughout the agency's service area, which includes Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua and Southern Erie counties. Deadline for nominations is April 14.
The awards, one to an individual and one to an organization, will be given for outstanding service to individuals with serious mental illness. Recipients of past awards to individuals have included Judge Walter Drag of Dunkirk. Among the organizations that have received an award was Spoke Folk of Dunkirk, a group that helps people obtain a bicycle.
The awards will be presented at STEL's annual luncheon on May 21 at noon, at Chautauqua Suites Meeting and Expo Center in Mayville. The luncheon is part of STEL's celebration of May as National Mental Health Month.

Delinquent water/sewer bills to be added to Fredonia taxes
All Fredonia water/sewer bills that are delinquent after April 7 will be added to the 2014 village taxes.
The tax bills are expected to be mailed by June 1, with payment due without penalty on or before July 1.
The property tax rate in the village, currently at $33.58 per $1,000 assessed valuation, will be determined after the village board adopts its 2014-2015 budget.
The board must adopt a budget by May 1. The 2014-2015 fiscal year begins June 1.
