Michael A. "Mickey" Miga, Jr., 63, of Dunkirk died unexpectedly Sunday morning (March 30, 2014) in Fredonia.
He was born Jan. 14, 1951 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Michael F. and Theresa (Kaleta) Miga.
A lifelong Dunkirk resident, Mr. Miga was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, Class of 1968 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1971-1974.
He was the proprietor of Mike's Mowing in Dunkirk for 13 years.
An avid sports fan, Mickey was a member of various clubs in the area.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
Survivors include his wife, Laura (Lawrence) Miga, whom he married April 13, 1985; one daughter, Christie Miga of Dunkirk; two sons, Michael and Richard Miga; two grandsons, Dominick and Christopher Pierce; six siblings, Marcia (Clifford) Nickerson of Brocton, James Miga and Jerry (Darlene) Miga, both of Florida; John (Audrey) Miga, Linda (Thomas) Logan, and Donna (Allen) Palmatier all of Dunkirk; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Miga.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock in Blessed Mary Angela Parish, Church of St. Hedwig. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Hedwig's Cemetery.
