Pomfret Town Board is taking a smart and timely step.
Since the village of Fredonia coerced the town to sign a two-year deal that was inflated due to the deadline, board members are following through on seeing if fire protection is available from another entity.
Clearly, it makes sense the village provides the protection, but the way the last contract was handled was through a bully pulpit and not negotiation. No surprise there.
The village is quite stubborn when it comes to working with others.
We hope Pomfret finds some potential suitors. If it does, then maybe real negotiations can begin.
