Kim Greiner RD, CDN, a registered dietitian at Westfield Memorial Hospital, introduced a Diabetes Education Program to Westfield/Mayville Rotary members recently.
After receiving recognition from the American Diabetic Association, the hospital now is well equipped to help those afflicted with diabetes.
Greiner said, "We have excellent physicians here who want to make sure you're well."
Kim Greiner (right), a registered dietitian at Westfield Memorial Hospital, hands over valuable information about diabetes, for which the hospital has received recognition from the American Diabetic Association, to Rotarian Cindy Harper, also a WMH associate.
Introduced by Rotarian and WMH associate Cindy Harper, Greiner said a blood test every year will find diabetes. If diabetes is found, managing it includes a focus on diet and exercise.
She said that 8.3 percent of the U.S. population is afflicted with Type 2 diabetes; 15,000 in Chautauqua County.
A registered dietician for 22 years, she has been a certified diabetes educator for two years and has been with WMH as a registered dietitian since 2000. She obtained her degree at Bowling Green State University of Ohio and completed her internship through Gannon University. She, her husband and three children live in Bemus Point.
Anyone who would like to learn more about diabetes or arrange a blood test should contact her at the hospital by calling 793-2222.
