Dorothy M. Buczek (Hartman), of Fredonia, NY, age 95, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014 following a brief illness.
Born Dorothy Hartman on April 23, 1919 in Fredonia, NY, to the late Herman and Edith (Dietrich) Hart-man, she was one of five siblings (Herman Jr., Harold, Wilton and Richard).
A lifelong resident of Fredonia, Dorothy was a former employee of New York Telephone Company (Dunkirk Office) as a switchboard operator. She retired in 1984. She was also an employee of W.T. Grants at the D&F Plaza as a sales clerk.
Dorothy was a lifelong member of the Women of the Dunkirk Moose and was involved with bowling for many years. She also enjoyed reading, traveling, playing cards and spending time with her dogs.
She was married to the late Joseph J. Buczek of Dunkirk, NY.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda S. Zielinski of Dunkirk, NY, and Lorraine Murray of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; grandchildren Allan and Randy Barber of Wisconsin, John Buczek of Fredonia, Jodie (Walters) Korzenski of Dunkirk, Matthew Walters of Fredonia, Cindy Bolivard of Ft. Pierce, Fla., Dan Murray of Florida and Patty Mitchell of Fredonia; as well as 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces.
Besides her parents, husband and siblings, she was preceded in death by her daughter JoAnn Barber, son John Buczek of Fredonia and great-granddaughter Christie Barber of Fredonia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Chautauqua County or the Pet Pantry of Dunkirk.
