John Charles Franklin, age 45, of Fredonia, N.Y., went home to the Lord on Saturday, May 3, 2014. John passed away at home, surrounded by his loving
family and friends following a courageous battle with cancer.He was born in Forestville, N.Y., to Gerald and Grace (Cummings) Franklin on July 7, 1968. He was
married to the love of his life, Kimberly (Gorka) Franklin, on June 1, 1991. Besides his beloved wife and parents, John is survived by his two devoted daughters: Nichole Lynn Franklin and Amy Marie (Matt) Franklin. He is also survived by his sister, Cheryl (Kris) Wellman; his brothers: Arthur (Laurie) Franklin, David (Brenda) Franklin, and James (Darlene) Franklin; his father-and mother-in-law, William and Barbara Gorka; his sisters-in-law, Vickie Fisher and Debra Gorka; and his brothers-in-law, Robert (Karen) Gorka and Michael Gorka. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews, with whom he shared a special love.

John grew up in Forestville and graduated from Fredonia High School. He then graduated from Alfred State College with a degree in diesel mechanics. After
graduating, John worked at several jobs, including automechanics, paving, and 10 years with the New York State Department of Transportation. John attended
and graduated from the New York State Corrections Officer Training Academy in Albany, NY. He was currently employed as a Corrections Officer at the Lakeview Shock Correctional Facility in Brocton. John was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed spending time with his family on numerous camping trips, canoeing,
hiking, geocaching, and going to Disney, among other outdoor activities. He also enjoyed spending great times camping and being with special friends Toni
and Bob Boner and Amy and Tony Gavazzi. Friends may call Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the LARSON-TIMKO Funeral Home, 20 Central Ave., Fredonia, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 145 E. Main St., Fredonia, Thursday morning at 10 a.m. (Please assemble at Church; using the
side entrance off the parking lot). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chautauqua County. Online condolences may
