SILVER CREEK - Fredonia (15-1, 12-1) won sole possession of the CCAA West I softball crown Tuesday, after its 9-1 drubbing of Silver Creek.
Hannah Cybart picked up the win in the five-inning affair, as she tossed four innings, allowed no runs, three hits and struck out four while walking one.
Tess Schober tossed the final inning for the Lady Hillbillies and allowed a run on a hit while striking out one.
Fredonia built a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, before exploding for five runs in the second. Mekenna Leid had a two-run single in the inning while Lauren Millson chipped in an RBI single of her own.
Then, in the bottom of the fifth, Lea Richir had a two-run single while Alicia Deering added an RBI single, which put the Lady Hillbillies up 9-1 and ended the game.
On the day, Deering finished 3 for 4, Cybart was two for three and Lauren Millson went 2 for 2, including an RBI.
For Silver Creek, which was the visiting team despite hosting the game, Mary Jo Pearl and Jenny Pearl each had triples while Harmonie Eggleston drove in the Black Knights' lone run on a fly ball in the fifth.
