Giving back was on the lunch menu at Brooks Memorial Hospital on Thursday afternoon.
As part of National Hospital Week, the health-care facility hosted a lunch in its parking lot for employees, community members and leaders. In all, about 300 people took part in the lunch that included grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, ribs and chicken.
The items were prepared and served by administrators, including president and chief executive officer J. Gary Rhodes, Fredonia village Trustee Phyllis Jones as well as other volunteers.

Employees and community members were treated to a luncheon in honor of National Hospital Week.
"As part of our National Hospital Week celebration, this was an opportunity to give something back to our employees," Rhodes said. "We thank them for their efforts in helping to make Brooks Hospital a quality regional health-care facility."
And, as is typical for any hospital, the serving was done with the right amount of care. Those volunteering were provided with hair nets and aprons.
Also in attendance at the luncheon were Dunkirk Mayor Anthony J. Dolce, Fredonia Mayor Stephen Keefe, state Assemblyman Andrew Goodell, Kevin Muldowney from state Sen. Catharine Young's office and hospital board members.
Brooks Memorial Hospital is located at Central Avenue and Sixth Street and employs around 400 in Dunkirk.
