Robert Payne Page, 86, of Cassadaga, died Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Brooks Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 29, 1928 in Jamestown, the son of the late Robert H. and Alice Payne Page.
Bob was a graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School in 1946 and Bliss Electrical School in Tacoma Park, Md., in 1948.
Robert was a veteran during the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Army, serving as a Corporal from 1950-1952 with the 351st Infantry, U.S. Hqts. and Hqts. Company, stationed in Trieste, Italy.
Before and after serving his country, Bob was employed at Westinghouse, Buffalo, then the N.Y. Division of State Police, Athol Springs and East Aurora. He was also employed at Western Electric and IBM in Buffalo.
From 1955 until his retirement in 1990, Robert was employed at Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporations Dunkirk Works (later Al-Tech) as a Maintenance Forman. Robert served the Village of Cassadaga as Mayor from 1957-1961 and Water Department Superintendent from 1961-1975.
Bob was an exempt member of the Cassadaga VFD, and a member for over 60 years of the Cassadaga Memorial American Legion Post 1280, Bemus Point VFW Post 557, Amherst Masonic Lodge 981, Williamsville, for over 60 years, Association of Former NY State Troopers, Steel Worker's Organization of Active Retirees and the Stockton Cassadaga Lily Dale Senior Citizens.
He enjoyed antique restoration, crossword puzzles and a good debate amongst friends.
Husband of 55 years to Louise A. Bauer Page, who he married Sept. 6, 1958 in Williamsville; father of Dr. Roberta P. (Richard) Pawlak of Middleton, Wis., and Richard (Cindy) Page of Fredonia; grandfather of Madison Page Pawlak, Sarah Page Pawlak, Justin, Ben and Brian Tadt, all of Fredonia.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Burial in Cassadaga Cemetery.
