The next meeting of the Brocton-Portland Seniors will be June 30 at Legion in Brocton. The menu is pizza and wings for a cost of $5. Reservations must be made by June 23; call Rita Stonefoot at 792-4565. Members are to bring personal table service and optional foods.
This meeting will have a 4th of July theme. Bingo with prizes to follow. A Committee of Dan and Robin Carr, Harold and Phyllis Bucholtz, and Pat Zanghi will do tables, set up and clean up. New members are always welcome
The United Senior Citizens
The United Senior Citizens will hold its regular monthly luncheon meeting on Monday, July 14 at the Fredonia Beaver Club, 64 Prospect St., Fredonia at noon. The menu for this month is rigatoni macaroni (pasta) with sauce, meatballs and sausage, grated cheese, French garlic bread, mixed tossed salad, coffee and dessert. The cost is $8 per person. Activities this week at the L.K. Painter Community Center are:
Sunday: Pickle Ball at 1 p.m. in the gym.
Monday: Active senior aerobics with Kim Robbins from noon to 1 p.m. in the gym. Be sure to wear comfortable clothing and flat shoes.
Wednesday: New this week is senior exercises with Pat Tucker at 10 a.m. in the new senior room. This activity will include regular and arthritis group exercises. Games and crafts with Pat Tucker are held in the Senior Room. Quilting with Florence is held 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Collins Public Library Community Room.
Thursday: Pickle Ball at 6:30 p.m. at the L.K. Painter Center gym.
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel
Thirty-six members met on June 18. President Carm Tampio led the Pledge of Allegiance. Carm Morabito gave the prayer.
The group voted that there will be no meeting on July 2. The next meeting will be July 16.
All committees gave their reports which were accepted.
All enjoyed a strawberry and biscuit luncheon.
The committee for the next meeting will be Ginny and Gene Chesbro, Diane Seegert, Rita Cappello and Gerrie Piede.
Those who wished to stay enjoyed 50/50 and Bingo.
Grape Belt Seniors
The Grape Belt Senior Board met on June 18 offsite since the Center was closed. Details were finalized for the members' annual picnic on Wednesday, July 23. The picnic will be held at the upper pavilion at Russell Joy Park beginning at 11:30 a.m. Pulled pork, rolls, coffee and water will be provided. Everyone attending is asked to bring a dish to pass. There will be games, prizes and surprises. To register just stop by at the Center or call Judy at 672-5778.
The Customer Appreciation Day trip to the Seneca Casino is Thursday, June 26. Be at the Big Lots Parking Lot by 8:45 a.m. so the bus can leave at 9 a.m. sharp. All you need to remember is to bring a photo ID.
The day trip to Niagara on the Lake will take place on Tuesday, July 15. An elegant lunch will be served at the Prince of Wales Restaurant and there will be time to walk around the town before stopping at Inniskillin for a wine tasting. Register for this trip by June 25. The day trip to the Village of Skaneateles is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug 12. Registration and payment is due by July 12.
A few seats are left for the beautiful tour to Cape Cod and Southern New England from Sept. 9 to 12. The final payment for this trip, which includes three nights lodging, five meals, wonderful sightseeing, as well as the Kennedy Memorial, the Mystic Seaport Museum and the Foxwoods Casino, is due July 15. Lake Shore Senior Citizens
Lake Shore Senior Citizens met at the Dunkirk Senior Center at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18.
President Stella Michalak led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance and singing of "God Bless America."
A reading entitled, "The Master's Garden" was given by Loretta Hemink.
Secretary Hemink read the minutes of the previous meeting. They were accepted as read by on a motion by Sophie Kubasik, with a second by Sandy Tapasto.
Treasurer Betty Korzeniewski read the treasurer's report. It was accepted as read on a motion by Betty Erick, with a second by Dorothy Kornacki.
Irene Christopher, Ronnie Ginley and Dorothy Sarzyniak won attendance prizes.
The helper of the day was Christopher, who was assisted by others.
The kitchen committee for June 25 is Pat Kozlowski and Carol Kozlowski.
A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Christopher, with a second by Marian Genovese.
Silver Creek Seniors
The Silver Creek Seniors meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance and singing "God Bless America". Dorothy Miniri said a nice prayer for the group.
Fran Smith is in rehab. Irene Coon and Fran could use prayers.
Ernie Hilliker, Joan Suski, and Conrad Pawlak won the 50/50 drawings.
Door prizes went to Hilliker and Harry Suski.
The members had a beautiful strawberry shortcake for the day's refreshments.
At the June 24 meeting, June birthdays will be celebrated. Joan Suski and Shirley Sikorski will make cakes.
Joan Suski called bingo, and everyone had a good time.
Collins Center Seniors News
The next meeting for the Collins Center seniors will be June 23 at the Gowanda American Legion with a potluck lunch at noon. Hot dogs will be furnished by the club.
Summer Seneca Niagara Casino trips will be July 15 and August 19.
Nonmembers are welcome for the July 23 trip, "A Day at the Park." Darien Lake designed a special package specifically for seniors that includes lunch at Maria Spaghetti House, two shows, refreshments, time at the Lakefront Boardwalk, rides, bingo and an ice cream social at Perry's Ice Cream. Reservations are due June 23.
Aug. 5 a group will head to Watkins Glen to enjoy lunch at the Seneca Lake Harbor Station and the breathtaking view of the water and majestic landscapes surrounding it. Following lunch group will take a scenic cruise aboard the Vintage Vessel "Stroller IV." The one-hour historic narrated cruise will allow passengers to discover the beauty and charm of Seneca Lake, a tradition since 1908. The day will be topped off with a delicious dessert and coffee before heading home on a luxury motor coach. Nonmembers are welcome.
Mackinac Island and Frankenmuth are destinations for a trip from Sept. 14 to 18. This includes: Luxury Niagara Scenic Motor Coach transportation, accommodations for four nights, three dinners, four breakfasts, a tour and dinner at the Edsel and Eleanor Ford Estate, a tour of Charlevoix famous mushroom houses, Jack Pine Lumberjack Show, a ferry ride to Mackinac Island with a 90-minute tour aboard horse drawn carriages and lunch at the Grand Hotel, a guided tour of Frankenmuth, a Bavarian pretzel rolling workshop, visits to River Place in Frankenmuth for shopping, and a stop at Bronner's Christmas Wonderland. Non-members are welcome.
An Oct. 4 trip to Penn Yan will include the Windmill craft and Farm Market, home to 200 vendors. Lunch will be at the Keuka Restaurant. The group will also visit Glen Curtiss Museum where biplanes soared and motorcycles roared.
A new offering is a trip to Kleinhan's Music Hall on Friday, Oct. 24 to see "The Hit Men." Those who loved Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Tommy James and the Shondells, Carly Simon, Elton John won't want to miss this show. Come and relive the glory days of rock and roll with these fabulous performers, featuring hits from "Sherry" to "You're So Vain." It is expected those attending will leave Kleinhan's saying "Oh, What a Night." Following the show the group will have a sit down lunch at Chef's Restaurant and top off the day with a stop at Premium Coffee Roasters.
