BROCTON - Plans are set for the 8th annual Brocton Central School Alumni Reunion. This popular event gives BCS alumni the opportunity to catch up with classmates and other alumni. Proceeds from the events provide BCS scholarships. In fact, four scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded at BCS graduation.
Events kick off at 8 a.m. July 12 with a shotgun start for the alumni golf scramble held at Pinehurst Golf Course. The price is $55 per golfer which includes golf, prizes, hot dogs and hamburgers at the turn. Skins available. Sign up as a team of four or individually. Those who sign up individually will be assigned to a team randomly. There will also be a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds from the Golf Scramble go directly to scholarships. Call Jon Esperson at 672-2092 or Bob Remington at 672-5498 for further information.
Tours of Brocton Central School begin at 4:30 p.m. from the school flag pole on July 12. The Brocton Legion will then be abuzz with a social hour including hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The chicken barbecue will be served from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Retired faculty Dick Prince and John Murgatroyd will emcee the evening, followed by plenty of dancing and fun. All current or retired BCS faculty and employees are welcome and encouraged to attend. Alumni often ask about former BCS staff and reminisce how so many of them impacted their lives. This is an opportunity for all of the BCS family to reunite. All BCS alumni, retirees and staff are welcome to join the association.
Help is always needed and appreciated. It is not necessary to be a member of the Alumni Association to help out. Anyone wishing to help with setup or food preparation can come to the Brocton Legion at 9 a.m. on July 12. The committee decided not to burden businesses by seeking appetizer donations. However, anyone wishing to donate an appetizer could deliver it to the Legion by 5 p.m. Also, if anyone would like to donate money toward appetizers or scholarships, the donation can be sent to the BCS Alumni Association, P.O. Box 195, Brocton, NY 14716.
The $20 cost includes the social hour with hors d'oeuvres, as well as dinner and dancing. Those who you cannot attend the dinner can attend the balance of the evening which includes dancing, socializing and the most fun you have had in years for just $5. Cash bar continues through the evening. Kokomo Time will provide music from 8 p.m. to midnight.
