The Monroe Community College Tribunes enjoyed a stellar softball season as they finished with a 26-15 record and earned a berth into the NJCAA Division III national tournament in Rochester, Minn.
In the double-elimination tournament, the Tribunes went 2-2, defeating Rainy River 1-0 in the fifth/sixth place game.
Three local players were members of the team.
Dunkirk graduate Joyce Bomasuto, top left, Cassadaga Valley graduate Kristi Zink, top right, and Dunkirk graduate Aldyn Carlson, bottom right, were members of the Monroe Community College Tribune softball team which earned a berth into the NJCAA Division III national tournament in Rochester, Minn.
Joyce Bomasuto, a 2013 Dunkirk High School graduate, appeared in 33 games this season and finished with a .267 batting average. She scored 11 runs and drove in four more. She had one stolen base on the season. Bomasuto sported a .312 on base percentage and a .333 slugging percentage. Defensively, she split time between the infield and outfield and finished with a .778 fielding percentage with 14 putouts and seven assists.
Kristi Zink, a 2013 Cassadaga Valley Central School graduate, appeared in 31 games and had a .363 batting average with four homers, 26 runs batted in and 14 runs scored. Zink sported a .410 on base percentage and a .626 slugging percentage.
In the infield, Zink was solid with a .967 fielding percentage with 28 put outs and 31 assists with just two errors in 61 chances.
Also on the team was 2012 Dunkirk High School graduate Aldyn Carlson. The pitcher saw just two innings of work this season.
