JAMESTOWN - Jamestown Community College's occupational therapy assistant degree program has been accredited for another 10 years.
The program was reaccredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education of the American Occupational Therapy Association. JCC began offering OTA courses in 1997.
"I would like to thank our current students, graduates, fieldwork educators, and Educational Council members for their participation during this vital process," said Heather Panczykowski, JCC's OTA program director. "Our program would not be where it is without the consistent, enduring support of the OT community.
The reaccreditation process, which includes a self-study process examining the program's curriculum, admission policies, and resources, ensures quality academic preparation for graduates entering the occupational therapy field.
Following an on-site evaluation by ACOTE, JCC was granted reaccreditation with a 10-year review cycle. JCC's OTA program demonstrated exceptional educational quality and had no areas of non-compliance.
JCC has agreements with Dominican College, Gannon University, and Canisius College to ease the transfer of JCC's OTA graduates into bachelor's and master's degree programs.
