The YMCA is currently accepting applications for its 27th annual Battle of the Businesses this September. The event, hosted by the Jamestown Area YMCA, is sponsored by BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York and Windstream Communications.
The weeklong competition will take place Sept. 6 through Sept. 13 and is open to all area businesses.
The Battle of the Busi-nesses is a series of athletic events in which employees represent their companies by competing against employees from other similar size businesses.
The 26th annual YMCA Battle of the Businesses is scheduled for Sept. 6 to 13. Battle packets are available at the Jamestown or Lakewood YMCA for any businesses interested in registering for the September event.
This year's events include one-pitch softball tournament, nine-hole golf scramble, bowling, coed volleyball, Expresso bike relay, table tennis, pickle ball, pool 8-ball doubles, 800-medley running relay, predicted mile walk, team dodge ball, miniature golf, scrabble, 2-mile run/walk, archery/sharpshooting, paddling, bean bag toss, and talent show.
New this year at Camp Onyahsa is the survivor relay race.
Last year's large division teams were Cassadaga Job Corps Academy, Chautau-qua County Government, Cummins, Falconer Central School, GA Family Services at Lutheran, Hope's Windows, Jamestown BPU, Jamestown Teachers Association, SKF Aero-engine, Southwestern Cen-tral School District, TitanX Engine Cooling, Truck-Lite Co., LLC, and WCA Hospital.
The small division teams were Allied Fire Protect-ion/Joo-Dee TV, BWB, Frewsburg Central School, Greater Chautauqua Fed-eral Credit Union, Hanson Sign Companies, James-town Bar Association/City Court, Jamestown Mattress, Libera, Inc., Matco Tools, Moore & Myott, LLP/-Trinity Biotech, Northwest Savings Bank (Jamestown), Panama Central School, Rand Machine/Schaffner, Knight, Minnaugh & Com-pany, The Jock Shop/CSI, and The Jamestown Post-Journal.
The current Battle champions and trophy holders are Cummins representing the large division and Frewsburg Central School for the small division.
Participants will receive a competition t-shirt sporting a Battle logo and their company name.
There will be an organizational captain's dinner at 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 28 at the Diamond Cafe in Lakewood. All team captains are expected to attend. The team roster, waiver of liability, and event rosters are due that evening or before.
Participant T-shirts, event schedules and guidelines will be available at that time.

The application, event roster and entry fee are due Aug. 1.
