Twenty years ago - 1994
Two Brocton Central School students have qualified as National Cheerleader Association All-American Cheerleaders. Jessica Pendl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Pendl of Fredonia and Darren Manzella, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Manzella of Portland, were chosen as 1994 representatives from this area. Both are members of the Brocton Varsity Basketball Cheering Squad. They are eligible to perform during the half-time show of the Jeep-Eagle Aloha Bowl game in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The Dunkirk Zoning Board unanimously rejected a request for a special use permit that would have allowed the owners of the Minute Man gas station at the corner of Lucas and Central avenues to convert the building to a Mini Mart Convenient Store.

Roy DeGolier, commandant of the Lake Shore Detachment Marine Corps League, was named "Marine of the Year" and "Commandant of the Year" at the annual state convention military ball on Staten Island.
