Some food for thought was provided in the recent audit of the Forestville Central Schools by the state comptroller's office this week.
Besides getting the cafeteria expenses in order - a no-brainer that has already taken far too long - the comptroller calls for sharing bus transportation routes with other neighboring districts. Sharing could lead to a savings of between $36,000 to $460,000 if done right.
All school districts, each spring, always talk of the need to find money due to increasing budget costs. Thanks to the comptroller, Forestville has identified some savings.
Now, the districts - like it has done with sports - will have to do some sharing to make those savings a reality.
