I have lived in Chautauqua County my entire life - 43 years, but have lived in Fredonia for the past 20 years.
For each and every one of those last 20 years, I have visited the most awesome attraction in our area ... the beaches. And every year, I sit and wonder why our beaches aren't cleaned up to their potential.
I do love how Wright Park Beach has done such a beautiful job of cleaning and maintaining their beach, but we have Point Gratiot that has just been neglected for way too many years! I'm so disgusted with the lack of attention this beach gets.
It's a gorgeous site, and not utilized to it's magnificent potential. Why taxpayer money can't be used to clean it up, I don't know. But I'd be more than willing to participate in a "clean the beach" day if sponsored by the city/community, and I'm sure others would too.
The garbage, trees, branches, rocks ... all of it could be cleaned up and maintained for summer use for our entire community, and would only add to the beauty of our area, and may even entice people to move into and invest into our local community.
And don't even get me started about Lake Erie State Park beach.
