American...I include ALL campaigns...they are all on the take..I know that.
Eastwood..really you think private industry should have a louder voice than people in our government. Interesting...
For me, I want the People's voice to be the only voice that our elected officials listen to. I am so tired of all of them on the take from whatever industry or pac group or whatever...that gives them the most money. We as individual citizens could never compete with those millions.
It should be the candidate with the best ideas, who gets the most support from the people...NOT the one who gets the most money so they can buy their way in.
go ahead and disagree...show how you support money swaying our politics rather than the people. I guess some people think that is ok. Then again..some think corporations ARE people.

The answer is NO! However, 99%'ers should take the money they planned on using for Christmas and send it to the GOP/Tea Party right away. I hear they are not as wealthy as they'd like to be and it's spoiling their Holidays.

when it comes to the logical answer,to this question ,understand this, there is no logic when it comes to political matters

less, campaign time, and press propaganda, do you realize what will happen, people will have time on their hands to think, which could cause a dangerous scenario for "the pull the wool over the voter eyes" folks
should be up to individual...not another money grab by Gov't. JUDEYE you can will your estate to the cause !

Seeing as all politicians are loaded let them pay strictly on their own from their own pocket. Then limit to one month campaigning. All the millions wasted on campaigning and fliers and mailings could feed the world's poor.

"Right now too often it is money that buys an election. What does an elected official give back to an industry that donated thousands of dollars to their campaigns" Exactly what we have been trying to tell you about this administration judeye. Thank you for saying so.
" integrity may not be bought, but it can be rented"
in hind sight although we believe our post has merit, the un-varnished truth is:" it's the money that you don't see that wins, not the money that you do" if there was ever a way to eliminate kick-backs and graft, then a fair playing field is possible, although not probable,

On the other hand, maybe it's me who doesn't understand the question. What kind of public funds are we talking about?
1 Agrees | 3 Disagrees | Report Abuse »
how about this yes, if and only if candidates do not receive any private sector funding/contributions or donations, and to keep it a level playing field, public funds would be matching dollar to dollar with private/corporate, with a limit for both based on publicly filed discloser, finally: there will be no allowable tax credit/ write offs on any contributions/ donations and all funds will be spent, with no provision for hold overs or surplus, unspent will be returned to source of origin

I don't think judeye understands the question.
No! That would be comparable to handing politicians your check book. A better answer is to limit the length and cost of canpaigns. We don't need month's or years of campaigning to hear the same old bunch of lies. Three months of that nonsense is plenty (one month for local elections), put a limit on the amount that can be spent and let it be paid for by the candidates supporters.
there should be a 5% additional sales tax to support the competent, trustworthy, morally correct, religious, God fearing hacks that that rule our lives.
It should be the ONLY money permitted.
Right now too often it is money that buys an election. What does an elected official give back to an industry that donated thousands of dollars to their campaigns? The sound of money going into elections drowns our the People's voice. How many of us can come any where close to the amount of money that various industries donate. Go to Open Secrets to see just how much money is donated to each elected person. Then ask, how after receiving so much of this money can our elected officials still be objective on issues that affect us?
I do not understand anyone saying NO. Seriously, you like the way we now have auctions rather than elections?
Money out of our ballot boxes...ALL OF IT.
