If we do not seriously reform welfare we cannot lower taxes. The takers are his voter base. If we don't drastically lower taxes we are dead. People and businesses will continue to leave. The productive young will leave. New York will be another dead blue state.

How about Cuomo approve hydrofracking to help the economy of upstate NY? This governor is a tool for a bunch of two-faced hypocrite lefties who are bent on destroying our economy.

hey watchdog, you are correct ! The left hates fracking cuz it works. we have seen many articles in this paper written by cortizol driven women, obsessed women over fracking. Recent atricles in WSJ about differences between men and women say that women obsess for great lengths of time. . Their hormonal makeup makes them do it. We all then suffer from it. Those end time delusions are contagious ! Just like we were to run out of natural gas by now also.that did not happen either !
our retinas are fracked . Our skin facked with pores. Our lungs with alveoli from simple bronchi, the drill pipe. trees fracked from the trunk to leaves, fracked with stomata.Do ya see the pattern dumb activists ? science at work in nature. Along arrive the libs and say we need science, real science. they do not know real science when they see it. dumb liberals.

State lawmakers must reform policies & practices that has helped cause NYS to become one of the costliest states to live and do business. Our system allows candidates and/or incumbents to align with groups such as labor unions, corporations seeking special favors, illegal immigrants, and even lifetime govt dependents (just to name a few), for the sole purpose of benefitting their own political careers.
Gov Cuomo's & Sen Young's support for this area should be applauded, but it's only a short-term reprieve UNLESS state lawmakers take action to eliminate the reasons why it cost so much to live and do business here, but don't hold your breath. How many lawmakers would support any bill(s) that isn't politically advantageous to them?

The first thing that HAS to happen is for Medicaid to reflect the same benefits as averaged in similar states by population, a savings of BILLIONS of dollars, depending ion what sources one uses, as high as 20 billion! And of course an immediate takeover of the entire cost by the state. If that much money was used to reduce property taxes, say a mandated 75%, the counties would have an additional 25% cash to use for job creations, and all property owners would see their county taxes lowered by 75%. I'd assume attracting businesses would be a lot easier. I DON'T think the Steinertron will help, nor will a change in political control. Pataki didn't do much, did he?

our eyes dont pollute the ground, our skin does not pollute the ground, the trees dont not pollute the ground, fracking for gas DOES put pollution in the ground. But Stiener is pure genius and doen not know that ? lol

Upstate NY (us) losing out on economic boom called hydraulic fracking. Sierra Club and Earth Justice who want NRG shut down have bullied Cuomo on fracking. Cuomo's a lightweight who gets bullied !

Saving NRG was certainly the right thing to do and his 10 year tax forgiveness plan could bear some fruit. Having said that here are my concerns: (1) The governor took far to long to take a position on the NRG issue. It should have been a no brainer. (2) NRG proposed spending $500 million to completely replace the existing facility. Why would any clear thinking government resist a private sector investment of that magnitude? It would have been great for the city, the county and the environment but we settled for less than one-third of the proposed investment and I still have not heard a good reason why. (3) CAPTAIN AND CHRISTOPHER are both right. It is taxes and the cost of doing business that is killing upstate New York but the governor said nothing about medicaid or re-structuring the many layers of local taxing authorities. In the final analysis I give the governor a C+. New York State is controlled by special interests and that is the source of our problem. We should be demanding

throwing money at a problem has never solved a problem, in fact it has created more problems, giving "hand outs" have only lead to more hand outs, there is a quote than come to mind " feed a man....." in order to strengthen a chain one must look to "strengthen" the weakest link, with that we think up economic growth starts at the bottom and work up" trickle down economics has not worked in past, and isn't the solution for tomorrow either, sound foundation come from bottom up, not top down, we see that teaching the "one" to be productive will benefit the" many" if you train them, business will come, not visa versa

Cuomo came here gave a big speech, made a "big bold promise" to the community, yet wasn't the PSC hearing yesterday, yet we have not read any or seen any reported evidence of the governor's promise being the truth........ words are empty air with out " action" just like "Steiner's" rants

Well Carlaw....we're dead then. With out an big increase in jobs in the area the taxes are a big reason for the decline.
to truly answer this question, one must ask themselves this question is Cuomo a leader or a manager, after all "Leaders are people who do the right thing; Managers are people who do things right"

Marie Currie said:"be less curious about people and more curious about ideas" we wonder if Steiner ever heard of "her"
we just looked at updated poll results, 38% yes 63% no, how can a poll add up to 101%. we didn't "know" poll voting could exceed 100%
all is well now in the realm, poll percentages have been readjusted

No one can foresee your steinertron. No one know what the h ell your steinertron is. I'm sure it exists only in your head. As for Cuomo he is as big a phony as they come. His goal is to be President. He will manipulate, lie and be maneuver until he thinks he can run for President. The only way he can get votes is to keep his base and his base are the freeloaders.

Now, now, comentor, don’t be so hard on einsteiner. But come to think of it, the steinmirage would be the economic savior of WNY!
Can’t you just imagine the worldwide demand for a combination cancer-curing, gas-saving marvel! And all in one box! There’d be thousands of workers on 24/7 assembly lines to try to keep up with the demand.
The government didn’t build THAT. (Of course, neither has einsteiner.)

Ok, not to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but if you create something on a company's dime, it's actually THEIR property and they can do with it as they see fit. Could Steiner have created these so-called Steinertrons? Possibly. Personally I doubt it, but there is a chance that, for one reason or another, an idea or ideas are/were suppressed because the company did not see the need to advance them. I hear all kinds of crazy stuff about new inventions made to increase gas mileage by 300%, only to have "an oil company" force someone to sell it to them, to never be seen again. I feel a little ill right now.
