Eight Westfield music students were selected for the 2017 NYSSMA Area All State Ensembles. All of the students were selected on the merits of their scores at last spring’s Solo Festival. The Area All State Ensembles are chosen from the best young musicians in Erie, Chautauqua, Niagara and Cattaraugus counties. The students will spend two days working with a distinguished guest conductor, and will present a concert for their families and teachers at the end of the festival.

Owen Bates, trumpet, was selected for the Junior High Area All State Band, which was held at Akron Central School on Nov. 3 and 4. Owen is the son of Kelly and Terry Bates. Michael Clamp, tuba, and Brad Belmondo, trumpet, were selected for the Senior High Area All State Band, which was held on the SUNY Fredonia campus on Nov. 17 and 18. Michael is the son of Doug and Joan Clamp. Brad is the son of Doug and Karen Belmondo.

The following Choral students were selected for Senior High Area All State Mixed Chorus, which was also held on the SUNY Fredonia campus on Nov. 17 and 18: Kailyn Gatto, soprano, daughter of Karl and Cheryl Gatto; Brittany Whitcomb (not pictured), soprano, daughter of Angela and Andrew Whitcomb; Austin Presto, tenor, son of Brandon and Maureen Presto; Jordan Jimenez, baritone, son of Elliot Jimenez; and Bret Babcock, tenor, son of Shawn and Andrea Babcock.
